Meet Colette (Coco)

I’m the Co-founder and President of Camp KidJam - a summer camp for kids created to encourage growth for kids in their relationship with God and one another.

I was one of the original Directors of Family Ministry at North Point Community Church for ten years. One of my responsibilities was overseeing the annual Grow Up conference - the first gathering of its kind in the marketplace. While at North Point Community Church, I was also the primary producer of each family environment, leading teams that served 1000s each week.

Adaptable and flexible, I’ve mastered the art of empowering and leading volunteers to help them achieve their most significant potential.

Sometimes equipped with little more than a sketch on a notecard, I develop the framework and fabric for engaging, meaningful events.

For the last 17+ years, I had the privilege of utilizing these skills at Orange, overseeing the production and logistics and growing systems for team and talent development of all Orange events.

You notice I said get a lot accomplished - I don't think I'll ever get everything on my to-do/dream list done. And that's ok. It is essential for us driven individuals to realize that there's more to life than getting things done. And not just realize it but act like it. My work was my life for many years, but over the last few years, I've learned that as important as work is, my family, relationships, and overall wellness are more important.

That doesn't mean I always get it right; I'm still learning to juggle it all. However, I have learned how to be more intentional about work/life balance in the midst of a busy schedule. I want to inspire leaders to discover greater purpose in every task and find peace in the hustle.

My mission is to help busy people learn how to accomplish a lot and not lose their minds or themselves in the process.

In my role as Executive Director of Event Programming, I worked alongside an incredible team to create systems for events for everything from logistics to content creation for sessions.

I had the opportunity to help facilitate smaller events of 75 people up to more significant events of over 8,000. Every event has its personality and challenges, making it fun to create. We start every event with a question: what do we want them to do when they leave? This helps guide us with intention and purpose, not just to create a fun event but an event that makes a difference.

I am also the Co-founder & President of Camp KidJam, a non-profit organization whose mission is to strategically partner with churches and parents by providing a quality camp experience that helps children develop a personal relationship with Jesus.

I co-authored Creating Experiences for Kids, How to Design Engaging Productions in Kids Ministry. In this book, we outline the why of creating experiences for kids and practical steps like hosting a creative meeting, designing the key elements of an experience, and how to craft your message. We want to help others create experiences that move kids toward an everyday faith and a better future.

A little about me personally…

I was born in Atlanta, GA, and have lived here my entire life. I LOVE my city! I've been married to my fantastic husband for 40+ years. We have two incredible daughters, Kristi & Jessica. Kristi and her husband live in ATL with their two dogs. Jessica and her fiance also live in ATL with their three dogs. (We're clearly a dog family - well, our kids are, but my husband is allergic.)

When I'm not working, I love to travel. Actually, I also love to travel for work. I basically love to travel. I enjoy seeing new places, experiencing new restaurants, and meeting people outside ATL.

I also love to hang out with friends and play cards or put puzzles together. Gosh, that sounds like I'm old. But I love puzzles because there's a clear start and finish, which is refreshing. And cards are just fun - especially SkyJo! If you've never played it, you should buy them right now.

I'm happy you're here and look forward to connecting with you!
